Camp Crayola

A pre-school camp for your 3 to 5 year old!  Each day will have a different theme, with Friday coming to Lysander Park for a family picnic.  Lots of games, crafts and activities to enjoy.  Supervisor for the program will be Lynn Pinard.  We are also looking for "Big Brothers or Big Sisters" to help us out during the program - they must be at least 12 years old.  Maximum enrollment is 20 per session / minimum 10.

Beginner Horseback Riding Lessons 

Learn basic horsemanship and care of a horse. This is a good start up program. You should only sign up for one session. This program is for ages 7 year olds & up. Two sessions will be offered this summer (Minimum # per class - 3). The classes will run on Monday nights from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. The cost is $70.00 per person. Lessons are held at Smoke Tree Farms, 8911 Plainville Road, B'ville.

Beginner Karate Classes -
                               

TAE-KWON-DO (Korean Karate) is an introduction to martial arts. It enables a student to learn from the ground up as it builds confidence & self esteem. The class is for students (6 years old and up) with No Belts or White to Yellow Belts.  This session of Summer Karate will be held on Wednesdays,  August 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 2007 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm @ the Belgium Cold Springs Firehouse on River Road. The cost for this program is $30.00.                                                                                                                                     

Advanced Karate Classes

Structured for more advanced students that have a yellow belt with a green tip or higher. This program will be held on Wednesdays, August 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 2007 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm at the Belgium Cold Springs Firehouse.   The cost is $30.00

Tai Chi Classes - Cancelled

Tai Chi is considered a "soft" martial arts style emphasizing relaxation and is taught as a form of meditation in motion.  Slow, soft, flowing and gentle movements build on the development of balance , coordination and strong energy flow . This program will be held on Wednesdays, August 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 2007 from 8:00 - 9:00 pm at the Belgium Cold Springs Firehouse.   The cost is $30.00

Hatha Yoga- Finished

The practice of Hatha Yoga develops strength, balance & flexibility. Physical movements combine with breathing and concentration to enhance vitality and improve mental clarity. Taught by staff of Morningside Yoga. This program will be held on Tuesday nights at the Lysander Town Hall in the large group room from 6:30 - 7:30 pm for ages 9 and up. The cost is $100.00 for adults & $55.00 for child family members. All children under 18 must have adult 21 years or older to attend the program.

Summer Youth & Adult Tennis Lessons:  

Group lesson for ages 5 & up will be offered at the Beginner & Intermediate levels. The four one (1) hour lessons will be taught by Chris Galle from Tennis-N-Gear at the courts at Lysander Park.  There are two sessions available.

Red Cross Babysitting Class

This course will include: planning for a babysitting job, knowing what to expect of children, selecting toys and games, supervising children, preventing accidents, giving 1st aid, rescue breathing, caring for infants and children and feeding them. Students who complete the course will receive a resource book full of pertinent information, as well as a certificate of completion. Students should bring a lunch with them. You MUST be 11 years old BEFORE the program starts.

Summer Reading Camp Program- (Completed)

This two week day camp is for children who have completed kindergarten at any elementary school and are entering the first grade. Don't miss out on an opportunity to reinforce what your child has learned in kindergarten and prepare him/her for the challenges of first grade. This fun and engaging camp will teach children letter sounds, word building, vowels and consonants, rhyming and vocabulary in a fun and engaging environment! Instructor will be 1st grade teacher Mrs. Flanagan from Elden Elementary School. Students will receive a letter with additional information a week before the start of camp.

Junior Golf Lessons - Ages 6 - 12 (FULL)

This beginner level Golf Clinic is for juniors, ages 7 - 12 years of age and will run for 6 weeks.  The clinics will run on Monday June 25 - August 20,  2007 (omit:7/2) from 6 - 7 pm at Hickory Hill Golf Center (Rt. 31).  The fee is $95.00, and there is a minimum of 6 needed to run the class and a maximum of 16. 

**Sticks for Kids Now Available**

This year we received 10 sets of golf clubs to through the Sticks for Kids Program. These clubs  are now available for any child that has the interested to learn the game of golf, and allows them to learn without buying expensive kids clubs. There will be a $50.00 Security deposit for the use of the clubs. These clubs will be your to use while you are taking your lesson at Hickory Hill, when lesson are over the Clubs must be returned to Lysander Park.    

Junior Golf Lessons - Ages 6 - 14  ** (FULL)

Adult Golf Lessons -7 Registered

This clinic will run for 6 weeks and will be for all level golfers.  It is an economical means to learn full swing mechanics as well as finesse shots.  Hickory Hill instructors are trained to help you increase your enjoyment of the game and are anxious to see you hone your skills.  The clinic will run on Wednesday June 27 - August 22, 2007(omit: 7/4) at Hickory Hill Golf Center from 6 - 7 pm.  The fee is $95.00 and there is a minimum of 6 needed to run the class and a maximum of 16.

Retirement Planning Today ** Completed**

This class explains time tested strategies that will help you make informed financial decisions.  You’ll discover how to save money on taxes, manage investment risks and protect your assets from potential long term health care expenses.  Above all, this course will show you how to assess your financial situation and develop a personalized plan to achieve your retirement goals.  The instructor for these sessions is Richard Uriciuoli, Certified Financial Planner Professional.  This course includes a 235 page textbook with examples and illustrations.  Each person may bring a guest at no extra charge.

Little Dribblers - Completed

This program is a structured 45 minute, non-competitive program, designed to provide a fun and exciting environment where kids can interact with others their own age while learning basketball and life skills.  The class includes activities that promote better coordination, following directions, increased confidence, working with others and developing a love for the game! Instructor for this camp will be Gary Pluff. (27.5 inch basketballs are used)

Learning to Rowing for Youth-

Crew is great fun and exercise. The B’ville Girl’s Crew Team has been very successful, and we’re hoping to add a Boy’s team.  This program is for kids 10 to 15 years old   with no rowing experience.  You will learn the basics and compete in some fun races.

Water Aerobics

Learn stretches & Pilates exercises which will help to lengthen & tone your muscles. At the end of every session participants will enjoy a guided relaxation.

Yankee Game - Trip to NYC - SOLD OUT !!!

Join the Town of Lysander Parks & Recreation Department (& Van Buren Parks & Recreation) as they travel by bus to NYC to see a Yankee Game on Saturday, September 22, 2007.  The Yankees will be playing Toronto at a 1:00 pm game in the soon to be replaced (2009) Yankee Stadium. The Caz Limo Bus will depart at 6 am and return at approximately midnight.  Pick up will be from the Van Buren Town Hall - all participants must be at the town building at 5:45 am for check in, so we can leave promptly at 6 am.   The price includes a ticket to the game, bus transportation, and gratuity.  Seats will be located in the  Tier Reserved section of the stadium. Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE .
