Defensive Driving Course - (7 Openings)

 

AARP is offering a re-training program designed to meet the needs of motorists over 50 years or older. No tests are given, participants are eligible to receive a 10% discount on their car insurance. You must attend both classes. You do not need to be a AARP member to attended

Pastry Chef Ann Pellegrino from the Gingersnap Bakery will show you the time saving secrets to these delicious treats.  All materials will be provided and the costs are included in the price!  You will be making & baking cookies so don’t forget your apron!!

Red Cross Babysitting Classes

The course will include: Planning for a babysitting job, knowing what to expect of children, selecting toys & games, supervising children, preventing accidents, giving 1st aid, rescue breathing, caring for infants & children and feeding them. Students who complete the course will receive a resource book full of pertinent information, an Emergency Reference Guide and a CD - ROM with valuable tools.  They will also receive a certificate of completion. Students MUST be 11 years old before the program starts and should bring a pencil and a lunch to the class.

East Coast Swing Dance Classes - (4 Registered)

Swing dates back to 1927 - its’ music descended from jazz music, and its style varies from country to country. It is a livelier version of the familiar fox-trot rhythm. Swing's bouncy dance steps have also been known as the jitterbug, jive, boogie, rock and roll, and lindy. Collectively they are known as swing. Join us to learn this fun and lively dance step. Bring a partner or come alone and be partnered up!

Horseback Riding Lessons

Golf Lessons

This clinic will run for 4 weeks & will be for all level golfers. It is an economical means to learn full swing mechanics as well as to finesse shots. Hickory Hill instructors are trained to help you increase your enjoyment of the game and are anxious to see you hone your skills.  There will be clubs available for youth though the Sticks for Kids program - Fee is $55.00, $50 of which is refundable if clubs are returned in good condition. This 8 week prep-camp is a great way to get ready for the upcoming Baldwinsville Girl's Basketball League. This structured program will begin with a 1/2 hour of a basic skill instruction. The last hour will be organized games with light instruction to help reinforce skills learned. Beginner Karate

This course covers the fundamentals of Karate, while also preparing participants for further study.  Training will aid concentration, improve the cardiovascular system, increase coordination, develop muscle tone, teach discipline & encourage over-all mental & physical conditioning.  In addition to effective self-defense, students will learn important concepts such as discipline, courtesy, integrity, respect, and self-control. Classes include a mix of focused games and serious training to build confidence and self esteem. Parents are encouraged to join their child and learn together.

Yellow Belts and up will enjoy a deeper study of Karate, both in technique and philosophy. They will continue their traditional karate studies and be guided to explore new areas, including human physiology and Chinese Healing Theory as they apply to health and self-defense.  Traditional pressure point techniques will be taught with an emphasis on practical self-defense.  Students will additionally cultivate compassion, open-mindedness and personal awareness through their studies and experiences.  Classes are Shikaze Ryu affiliated.

Tai Chi

TAI CHI is a Chinese martial art that is primarily practiced for its health benefits, including a means for dealing with tension & stress. Tai Chi is considered a “soft” style martial arts, though regular practice provides for an excellent low cardio, toning workout. Tai Chi emphasizes complete relaxation & is essentially taught as a form of meditation in motion. The mind becomes quiet as the body moves to rejuvenate & strengthen itself. Soft, slow, flowing & gentle movements build on the development of balance, coordination and strong energy flow. This creates a healthful & rewarding treat to daily living.

Adult Karate

This class will begin the journey to the heart of traditional Karate-Do.  For those wishing to extend or expand current or past studies and beginners wishing to develop their physical and mental abilities, this program will instill and enhance basic through advanced concepts of martial training and the application of techniques.  Studies will focus on the physics of movement, Chi (energy) manipulation, and pressure point theory as they apply to health and self-defense.  Students can also expect an introduction to Zen philosophy, as it relates to martial arts.  Classes will be small and focused and are Shikaze Ryu affiliated.

Family Ski Day

Ski for $18.00 on Wednesday, December 30th from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm at Four Seasons Ski Center in Fayetteville. Also available is a lesson and rental package for both downhill skiers & snowboarder and cross country skiers. Skiers & snowboarders can rent ski boots, poles or boards and helmets and take a one hour lesson at 11:30 am (payable at Four Seasons) all for $27.00, but you must register at Lysander Park in advance by calling 635-5999.

Snow Tubing Night

Come join the fun at Four Seasons Ski Center for a night of snow tubing. They supply the tube and pull you up the hill, you supply the laughter as soon as you zoom down the hill! Fun for kids of all ages. Separate slopes & lifts keep you safe from skiers.
